It was absolutely beautiful. For the first time in our lives, we saw whales – including orcas.
We started the tour at 08:15 AM and returned around 4:00 PM. The weather was fantastic and the scenery was breathtaking: snow-covered fjords, stunning nature, and incredible light.

Yes, it was freezing cold, but that only made the experience even more special. We were able to watch the orcas for almost two hours, which was truly magical.

The Njord Adventures team was incredibly friendly, professional, and welcoming. We felt well taken care of throughout the entire trip.

We would definitely book another tour with them and can highly recommend Njord Adventures!

Whale watching tour yesterday 08/12/25 fantastic dat out 👍it’s about three hours getting to the feeding grounds but so worth it 😬tea coffee hot chocolate biscuits soup all on board! We had cookies, tea, coffee and chocolate on board. During the journey there, guides shared us information about the whales we are going to see. We felt absolutely comfortable and welcomed on the boat, we found a pod of orcas that swam close to our boat and followed us too! Close up footage of the whales were on videos that I couldn't upload on Google reviews unfortunately. Time to go see for yourself.

Memorable journey with Njord Adventures. Small group, very polite and kind stuff, helpful and dedicated to participants, they informed us at all times about whales around us. Very nice gesture at the end by giving us a small souvenir for the time we enjoyed with them. If I were to do this experience again , I would choose Njord as well.

Our first 9-hour expedition was with a different larger boat company and we didn’t see any whales… literally 0 and the whole thing felt rushed and cramped.

But this company, Njord Adventures, are amazing! We went on a smaller, more comfortable, and intimate boat and we were rewarded with numerous orcas (killer whales) and humpback whales. They even gave us soup towards the end of the trip to warm us up!

The water can get choppy, so take seasickness tablets before boarding. The staff keep you informed about bumps and waves, and they were absolutely incredible!

Fabulous experience! I was lucky enough to win this tour. Communication, friendliness and the tour itself was good. Although its a small boat tour, we were taken in a big boat to increase chances of seeing them, being end of season. We did see a few including orcas.

We had the most wonderful time with Njord Adventures! The boat was the perfect size - not too big or crowded but still big enough to have a heated indoor space to warm up. We saw lots of orcas, humpback whales and a fin whale. The team was lovely and we stayed a bit longer than expected as we encountered a pod of orcas as we were leaving the area.

Excellent crew and wonderful boat. We saw humpback whales and many orcas up close. Boat is fast and perfect size, not too big, not too small. We had a bonus on the way back seeing the Northern Lights. I totally recommend this crew and boat and would do it again

We wanted to have a genuine experience with experts and an adventure too - our trip with Njord Adventures on 6th December 2025 delivered all of this and more! What an experienced crew, Hannaleena was so knowledgeable, informing us on all key aspects, whilst giving us space to experience the journey and serene destination, taking in the experience and encounters with the whales. We felt very safe and well taken care of travelling to and from the location, the ship was warm and comfortable and clearly a most hardy seagoing vessel. It was great to leave early in the day and make the most of the light and have as much time as needed. We were so lucky to see many Orcas feeding and sleepy hump back whales too in the setting of the incredible arctic landscape. My daughter and i will never forget the experience and we hope to return to Norway and book again with Njord Adventures in the future. We had a fantastic whale watching trip with the Njord team. We got to spend several hours surrounded by Orcas/Killer Whales as they went about their business! Not only that, but we also got to see Little Auks and Sea Eagles, and the scenery through the fjords was absolutely stunning! Hannaleena and Daniel were very welcoming. We had unlimited access to hot drinks and biscuits. The boat was warm and comfortable. Hannaleena was extremely knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions and share information.

We spent the day searching for the Orcas. We were lucky as they made an appearance. We also got to see humpback whales. The trip was well organised and comfortable. Slightly bumpy in places so I'd recommend taking sea sickness tablets if you're prone to that. The guide had a good knowledge and there was a general feeling of respect for nature and the whales. I would highly recommend.

We had an incredible experience with Njord Adventures. The boat was the perfect size-large enough to be comfortable, but small enough to feel personal and uncrowded.

The guides were outstanding: friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly very experienced. We were among the first boats to reach the whale areas and stayed out longer than most, which made a huge difference.

We were lucky enough to see a large number of orcas up close, and the whole experience felt well-paced, respectful of the wildlife, and truly unforgettable. If you’re planning whale watching in Tromsø, this is an excellent choice and one we would highly recommend.

In short this was one of the most magical experiences we had in a long time!

I was on board the MS Sylvkallen on Saturday, November 15, 2025, and again on November 18, 2025.
Hannalena, our tour guide, and Jørn, our captain, were fantastic.
They both radiated such calm and serenity. They are attentive to their guests on board and always have time for a chat. The boat is small, which makes these trips more personal and intimate.
I always felt safe and very comfortable.
There is also free tea and coffee, as well as hot soup on the return trip. This is great when you're frozen after whale watching.
On my last tour on November 18, 2025, I encouraged two people to join me on this trip. They booked spontaneously on my recommendation and were totally overwhelmed by how beautiful and eventful this tour was. They were Ray from the USA, Sam from Perth, Gucci from England, and me as their “Lucky Roland.” We had such a great time on board!!!
Of course, we also saw lots of orcas, humpback whales, and even fin whales.
All this because Hannalena and Jørn always took us to the right spots. I already know Daniel from my vacations in 2022 and 2023.
Back then, I was also traveling with the crew of the MS Sylvkallen.

A few tips for anyone planning this adventure: dress very warmly, even in multiple layers, as it gets freezing out on the water. If you’re prone to motion sickness, take seasick medicine in advance, and be prepared—the waters can get quite rough at times.

This is not just another tour; it’s a heartfelt experience run by people who truly love what they do. I’ll definitely be back for another trip in a different season. Highly, highly recommended! 🐋❄️💙

We joined a whale tour with Njord Adventures on their small boat. Even though it was fully booked with around 40 people, it never felt crowded. Our guide Hannaleena was very friendly, knowledgeable, and explained everything clearly.

We were incredibly lucky and saw orcas, humpback whales, and even a fin whale. One orca stayed right next to the boat for about five minutes and swam around us, what an unforgettable experience.

These are wild animals, so sightings can never be guaranteed, but the crew always kept a respectful distance and clearly cared about the animals’ well-being.

Absolutely recommended, a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Es war ein wunderbarer Ausflug und wir hatten das Glück Orcas, Buckelwale und einen Finnwal zu sehen. Die Crew war supernett und hat uns viel Wissenswertes über die Wale berichtet. Das Boot hat jederzeit respektvoll Abstand zu den Tieren gehalten. Danke für diesen tollen Tag.

Die Tour hat meine Vorstellungen noch übertroffen. Wie haben an einem nicht so klaren Tag zwar etwas länger gebraucht bis wir die Wale gefunden haben, aber als wir dann die Location erreicht haben war es wie in einem Traum. Die Guides liessen uns auch lange Zeit und wir konnten mehrmals verschiedene Wale sehen. Bei uns waren es Buckelwale und Orcas. Die Guides haben auch auf der Fahrt immer wieder etwas erzählt und achteten auch immer auf genügend Abstand. Die Fahrt mit dem Boot nach Skervøy geht teilweise über das offene Meer und wenn man seekrank wird kann das recht übel werden. Aber wenn das überstanden ist, lohnt es sich sehr.😊

This is THE trip to book! Forget the big boats! Will definitely be back.
