Whale watching adventure from Tromsø (Tromso)

Highly recommend Njord adventures had a wonderful trip on the 12/12/25 . Friendly and informative crew . Comfortable size boat room for everyone . Great supply of warm drinks and soup which was much appreciated on such a cold day .

After researching options I’m very glad to have booked with Njord. Every day out in the sea is different and in many ways the sea gods blessed us on our tour, but I’d go out with them again any day. Great combo of care for the guests and marine life!

A awesome Experience! Nice boat Size, Not too big and Not to Small. Theres Coffee and tea on Board and you can warm up inside a Little Bit if its to cold. We saw millions of Orcas and a few humpback whales. Thanks for Having us on Board. Next time again:)

Njord Adventures saved us from a bad day due to other trip cancellation without having got any information. They were really available for onboarding us and, thanks to their professionality we got a fantastic Whale watching tour! Thank you!

The trip with Njord Adventures was unforgettable! I’ve done the whales tour before with other boats and, in my opinion, theirs have a good compromise with size, speed and comfort. It’s only 2h30 to reach the fjords where the whales are, which allowed us to stay much more time around there to try to spot them. We spend a long time enjoying Orcas and Hampacks and got a beautiful gift in the end with a curious Orca playing sooo close to the boat. And that was thankful to them that pushed a bit longer as the weather was good and they could spot more animals around. We had a safe trip, they respect the animals, their space, the distance. We had hot drinks and snacks available the whole time and soup on the way back. Jørn sailed us very safely and also safe for the whales. Hannaleena was super kind, full of knowledge and very passionate. She was all the time checking the fjords to try to spot them. We had explanations about the weather conditions, what to expect and all the details of the whales we’ve seen and their behavior. We were even more lucky to get crazy Northern Lights on the way back, as the weather was completely clear. I totally recommend them! Happy birthday Hannaleena !

Cant recommend this company enough. Easy to book, easy to find. Boat was so cool, gave you a real feel of adventure standing out on the deck cruising through the fjords, but also with the luxury of the warm indoor cabins with tea and coffee readily avaliable. I think our tour was fully booked but it didnt feel crowded at all. The team on board were fab giving loads of information about where we were heading, what animals maybe there for us too see, giving warning if it was going to be bumpy too. When we arrived to find the whales they were so respectful of giving the whales space to do their thing, but also getting us to the perfect spot to see too. After seeing the whales we headed back, warming up with soup in the cabin. Fantastic day for our whole family a trip ive been wanting to do for a long time. If you want to go whale watching 100% use Njord Adventures.

We had cookies, tea, coffee and chocolate on board. During the journey there, guides shared us information about the whales we are going to see. We felt absolutely comfortable and welcomed on the boat, we found a pod of orcas that swam close to our boat and followed us too! Close up footage of the whales were on videos that I couldn't upload on Google reviews unfortunately. Time to go see for yourself.

Definitely book here! A small Norwegian company that truly does everything possible to give you the best experience. The highlight of our trip was seeing the orcas and the fin whale. The crew went above and beyond to make this possible, while always respecting the animals and never disturbing them — unlike some other boats we saw. We’re very happy we chose this company. The team showed great respect for both wildlife and guests. An excellent and unforgettable experience!

Excellent crew and wonderful boat. We saw humpback whales and many orcas up close. Boat is fast and perfect size, not too big, not too small. We had a bonus on the way back seeing the Northern Lights. I totally recommend this crew and boat and would do it again

We had a wonderful tour and booked immediately for the next day, that says everything. What makes this tour unique isvthe smaller soze of zhe group, it felt very personal and perfetly organized by the small team. Especially Hannaleena is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and the captain made us feel very safe. They hav no restricted schedule they go the extra mile to create great experiences for the guests. We saw lot of whales, orcas and humpbacks, it was amazing and a bonus the sunrise during the trip

Ein Traum ging in Erfüllung ❤️ Es war phantastisches Erlebnis, absolut liebe und professionelle Crew, die sich immer Zeit genommen hat und gerne ihr Wissen teilte. Mein Sohn und ich waren so begeistert, daß wir den Tag drauf auch nochmal mit dabei waren. Am ersten Tag haben wir viele Orcas gesehen, am zweiten Tag kamen dann noch Buckelwale und Finnwale dazu. Ein unvergessliches Erlebnis.

Wir sind um 8:30 Uhr gestartet mit einer entspannten und vor allem schönen Tour. Unser Guide hat uns viel erzählt.
Was alles so perfekt macht, war das wir als erstes da waren, mit am längsten geblieben sind und am Ende noch mit den Orcas fuhren. Ich kann alles nur empfehlen!

Best for whale watching from Tromso What an amazing trip with a fantastic crew.
It was really great to be out with a group of friends and to be with such a responsible company.
I am also in the business of Whale watching and it was really great to share experience's with Jørn and Hannaleena who are excellent at their job.
We found plenty of Whales Orcas, Humpbacks and Fin and even a young Minke too.
There is plenty of comfort aboard the very capable SYLVKALLEN hot drinks avaible at any time and Soup after an exhilarating time with the whales on the way home.
Certainly i am planning to return next year.

Excellent day out 🐋 We had an incredible day out with NjordAdventures. Orcas, humpback and fin whales in the space of a few hours! I had the pleasure of sharing this experience with friends and family, most of whom had never seen orcas before so it was very moving to see their reactions. Aufgrund des Schnellbootes waren wir die Ersten vor Ort. Somit konnten wir eine gewisse Zeit die Orcas alleine beobachten und die wunderschöne Natur genießen. Die Crew war super. Das Boot war im Inneren beheizt und sehr bequem. Man konnte zu jeder Zeit an Deck gehen. Aufgrund der kleinen Reisegruppe hatte auch jeder einen guten Platz um die Tiere zu beobachten. Der respektvolle Umgang mit den Tieren stand für die Crew an erster Stelle. Es gab Kaffee, Tee und Kekse sowie eine Suppe. Wir können diese Tour mit Njord Adventure einfach nur weiterempfehlen.

I did a lot of research before landing at Njord Adventures and it was perfect. Im early 30s with my husband and my mom. Didnt want to be stuck on a large boat with a million people for 7 hours and wasnt ready for a RIB boat. Njord has a smaller vessel with comfortable seating and amenities, perfect for optimizing wild life viewing with easy access being indoors to get warm and being outside on the decks for the glorious views. Our guide was a true professional in educating and helping us spot all the sea life. We saw swarms of orcas, 2 humpbacks, and even a fin whale. Amazing experience, I highly recommend.

My partner and me did the whale safari with Njord Adventures in mid-November 2025 and had an incredible day out in breathtakingly beautiful fjord scenery with lots of orcas, as well as several humpback whales and some fin whales (the latter didn't show much of themselves, but I trust our guide they were fin whales indeed) on a very comfy boat with an amazing crew.

While there is a bunch of whale watching tour operators in Tromsø to choose from, we were very happy we picked this one and highly recommend it for the following reasons (doesn't mean none of this applies to other operators as well, but for this one we can safely confirm):

• The code of conduct for responsible whale watching was perfectly followed. While we got very close especially to the orcas or rather they got close to us by themselves, great attention was paid not to harrass any whale with the boat.

• Thanks to the experience of the crew and their willingness also to spend more time for the tour and go further with the boat, we really saw a lot of whales, particularly orcas, and had plenty of time to watch and admire them.

• The crew, which consisted of our super friendly and knowledgeable guide Hannaleena and our experienced captain Jørn, was truly amazing. Hannaleena provided very interesting information about the whales (there was also a nice short presentation on the way to the whales) and took exceptional care of each passenger.

• Small boat with small group size. There are up to 36 passengers admitted on the boat. We were around 12 passengers that day, which created a very familiar and relaxed atmosphere, and the boat was super cosy and warm inside the cabin. (Only drawback: The boat might be a bit shakier than bigger boats in more turbulent waters, so my partner and me both felt a bit nauseous at some point on the way back, but neither we nor any of the other passengers required any of the sufficiently provided seasickness bags and Jørn manoeuvred the boat as calmly as possible.)

• We also very enjoyed the free hot drinks plus warm soup and cookies and I don't know whose playlist it was that we could listen to inside the cabin, but I very liked it.

So altogether, we had a fantastic experience with the whales and Northern Norwegian scenery. Thanks so much to Hannaleena and Jørn for the perfect day!

Great boat, staff and tour. Saw maybe 100 orcas, 10 Humpback whales, and 3 Fin whales. Absolutely amazing!

Amazing trip, well organised, not too many people on the boat so it’s very comfortable onboard, plenty of tea/coffee & biscuits available, crew very knowledgeable & easy to talk to. So so many whales to see both Humpback & Oracas. Would definitely go with this company again as very respectful of the area.

It was truly magical! We saw many orcas and humpback whales and the atmosphere was breathtaking. Im so glad we chose a tour with a smaller boat, this allowed us a way more authentic experience. The guide was also very friendly and we felt so welcome. BIG recommendation!

Fabulous experience! I was lucky enough to win this tour. Communication, friendliness and the tour itself was good. Although its a small boat tour, we were taken in a big boat to increase chances of seeing them, being end of season. We did see a few including orcas.

Gestern waren wir mit Njord Adventures auf Whalewatching Tour. Es ist absolut empfehlenswert. Auf dem Weg hin gibt es einen kleinen Vortrag über die Wale die man sehen könnte. Wir waren eines der ersten Boote bei den Walen und man merkt den Guides ihre Liebe zu den Tieren wirklich an. Alle haben die Zeit vergessen und wir waren bis es zu dunkel wurde um etwas zu sehen im Fjord. Es wurde sehr respektvoll mit den Walen umgegangen. Andere Boote sind nahezu in die Wale reingefahren, bei uns kamen die Wale von selbst sehr nah ans Boot. Hannaleena und ihre Crew waren sehr hilfsbereit und immer sehr sehr freundlich. Sie haben sich gegen das Arbeiten in einem Unternehmen entschieden, das gegen die ethischen Grundsätze der Welt der Wale arbeitet und sich selbstständig gemacht. Auf dem Rückweg gab es Suppe und Hannaleena hat nochmals erklärt, welche Wale wir gesehen haben. In unserem Fall Finnwale, Orcas und Buckelwale. Das Team hilft auch bei der Wal Research und beobachtet genau, welche Wale im Fjord auftauchen. Wow! I can't think of a better way to describe the adventure we had with Njord Adventures in Tromsø last Saturday. The experience we booked was even better than expected. We had the opportunity to watch the whales up close, and we were given lots of information. The whole crew was fantastic — so kind, and always pointing out where the orcas were coming from. I would definitely recommend booking a whale-watching tour here, and if we ever come back, this is the tour we want to take again.

Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Ausflug mit Njord Adventures. Die Kommunikation war von Anfang an sehr gut – wir haben die Tour bereits einige Wochen vor unserer Reise nach Tromsø gebucht, da uns ein kleines Boot mit wenigen Teilnehmern besonders wichtig war.

Einen Tag vor der Tour erhielten wir eine E-Mail mit der Information, dass am Vortag leider nicht viele Wale gesichtet wurden und man deshalb mit einem größeren Boot hinausfahren würde, um die Chancen zu erhöhen. Uns wurde dabei völlig offen gelassen, die Tour kostenfrei zu stornieren, falls das nichts für uns wäre – das fanden wir sehr fair.

Wir haben es absolut nicht bereut, teilgenommen zu haben. Wir fühlten uns jederzeit gut aufgehoben: Die gesamte Crew war unglaublich freundlich und aufmerksam. Für alles war gesorgt – Tee, Kaffee, heiße Schokolade, Snacks und sogar eine warme Suppe.

Besonders beeindruckt hat uns der respektvolle Umgang mit den Tieren. Die Crew näherte sich den Walen mit viel Rücksicht und ließ ihnen stets ausreichend Freiraum. Ein rundum tolles und verantwortungsbewusstes Erlebnis, das wir sehr empfehlen können.

Abbiamo fatto un tour con questa compagnia, che dire, barca perfetta, pulita, calda comoda e soprattutto veloce, siamo stati tra i primi ad arrivare nella zona delle balene dopo circa due ore e mezza di attraversata, nel frattempo la guida ci ha spiegato in maniera semplice e veloce un po di cose da sapere a riguardo degli animali che avremmo potuto avvistare.
A bordo c’è una comoda macchinetta per caffè e bevande calde in generale, con tanto di abbondanti biscotti.
Il whale watching vero e proprio è durato circa due ore e mezza, anche di più, e la cosa che ho ritenuto veramente un passo avanti è stata l’abbandonare la zona quando troppe altre barche si avvicinavano alla nostra, ovviamente dopo averci chiesto se fossimo d’accordo e contenti, per cercare altre balene lontano dalle altre imbarcazioni.
Insomma, un’esperienza non propriamente turistica per una volta, e ben più efficace, alla fine abbiamo visto tutto, e anzi siamo stati l’ultima imbarcazione ad andare via, quando saremmo già dovuti essere di ritorno, e i ragazzi ci hanno concesso una mezzoretta da soli con un paio di megattere che stavano riposando in superficie, lasciandoci godere appieno fino all’ultimo istante l’esperienza.

Memorable journey with Njord Adventures. Small group, very polite and kind stuff, helpful and dedicated to participants, they informed us at all times about whales around us. Very nice gesture at the end by giving us a small souvenir for the time we enjoyed with them. If I were to do this experience again , I would choose Njord as well.

We had an incredible experience with Njord Adventures. The boat was the perfect size-large enough to be comfortable, but small enough to feel personal and uncrowded.

The guides were outstanding: friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly very experienced. We were among the first boats to reach the whale areas and stayed out longer than most, which made a huge difference.

We were lucky enough to see a large number of orcas up close, and the whole experience felt well-paced, respectful of the wildlife, and truly unforgettable. If you’re planning whale watching in Tromsø, this is an excellent choice and one we would highly recommend.

In short this was one of the most magical experiences we had in a long time!
