Whale watching adventure from Tromsø (Tromso)

Bei meinem Sohn und mir ging ein Traum in Erfüllung und das bei einer super sympathischen und professionellen Crew. Es hätte nicht besser/schöner sein können (meiner Meinung nach) wir haben Orcas, Buckelwale und Finnwale gesehen. Ich kann Njord Adventuers nur bestens weiterempfehlen 🐳🐋

Wir hatten einen fantastischen Tag an Bord der Sylvkallen. Die Crew war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Strecke führte an einem unglaublichen Panorama vorbei. Bei Skjervøy angekommen haben wir Buckelwale und Orcas gesehen, einfach unglaublich beeindruckend. Die Crew hat sich sehr viel Mühe gegeben, wir haben viel über die Wale, ihr Verhalten und die Gegend erfahren. Kurzum: wir sind begeistert und würden die Tour nochmal buchen

This was a really great experience, we learned alot about the whales and we also are lucky to see the whales. The boat was also warm and cozy. All the crews were passionate and really helpful. Thank you guys for all of the things. Love it

Whale watching tour yesterday 08/12/25 fantastic dat out 👍it’s about three hours getting to the feeding grounds but so worth it 😬tea coffee hot chocolate biscuits soup all on board! Very professional crew very informative! I enjoyed it so much I’m going again on Sunday !!!! Lots of orcas which is my main thing also seen several humpback whales got done great video footage that I can’t stop looking at 😁😁😁😁😁definitely worth doing

We wanted to have a genuine experience with experts and an adventure too - our trip with Njord Adventures on 6th December 2025 delivered all of this and more! What an experienced crew, Hannaleena was so knowledgeable, informing us on all key aspects, whilst giving us space to experience the journey and serene destination, taking in the experience and encounters with the whales. We felt very safe and well taken care of travelling to and from the location, the ship was warm and comfortable and clearly a most hardy seagoing vessel. It was great to leave early in the day and make the most of the light and have as much time as needed. We were so lucky to see many Orcas feeding and sleepy hump back whales too in the setting of the incredible arctic landscape. My daughter and i will never forget the experience and we hope to return to Norway and book again with Njord Adventures in the future. Sincere thanks to the whole crew for a life changing, wonderous experience. We could not recommend more highly!

My only bucket list dream was to see orcas in the wild, and Njord Adventures made that possible! We had the most incredible experience right beside the orcas while they rode the waves next to us. 10/10 experience!

Amazing experience. Today's experience was incredible. Not only did we see multiple orca but we got to see two humpback whales and the Northern lights on the ride back in. Words can not explain how great this trip was. The knowledge of the local guide Hannaleena was fantastic and the boat skipper Daniel did a great job of getting us close to the whales and keeping them safe.

Unforgettable Experience with an Amazing Team!

What an absolutely fantastic company! Our whale and orca sightseeing tour in Tromsø was nothing short of unbelievable. From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized, warm, and personal. The two captains, who also acted as our guides, were truly wonderful—knowledgeable, passionate, and genuinely excited to share their love for the ocean and its wildlife.

We went out on a small boat, which made the whole experience so much more intimate and special. We were incredibly lucky to see both orcas and whales up close, and it was absolutely breathtaking. The tour took a bit longer than planned, but every single minute was worth it—the owners’ total involvement and care for every guest really showed.

A few tips for anyone planning this adventure: dress very warmly, even in multiple layers, as it gets freezing out on the water. If you’re prone to motion sickness, take seasick medicine in advance, and be prepared—the waters can get quite rough at times.

This is not just another tour; it’s a heartfelt experience run by people who truly love what they do. I’ll definitely be back for another trip in a different season. Highly, highly recommended! 🐋❄️💙

A dream come true What an absolute epic trip, to be able to watch whales in the wild (not captive in sea world) and with a great small crew with the knowledge and respect for the wilderness. The trip is fairly straightforward: you get into the boat they will sail into the Fjords where there's a higher chance to watch whales (about 1-2 hour sailing). Once there, the crew try to spot the whales from afar, sail towards them keeping a respectful distance from the whales to not scare or disturb them (we are the visitors).

The crew is composed by only 2: Hannalena and the captain. It's also focused on very small groups, which makes it very personalised and relaxed. You also notice this is very different than the other money-driven tours out there. They want you to have a great experience with the whales, sharing knowledge facts and explaining that we are there to watch and respect the animals as much as possible. This is a must for me personally: we are here to respect nature!

I did the trip twice because of the amazing experience, and I hope you do it to. Trust me, it's worth it. Every time you watch a whale jump, dive, or just show their fins, you will experience absolute joy. Bring good clothes for the weather, since you will be watching whales from the deck of the boat. And once you feel you have seen enough, get inside the cabin and grab a coffee, hot chocolate, cookies, or a hot soup the crew has prepared for you!

Uns wurde empfohlen, eine Walbeobachtungstour mit einem kleineren Boot zu machen und nicht mit einem Katamaran. Also haben wir uns für Njord Adventures und ihr Boot „MS Sylvkallen“ entschieden.
Das war eine gute Wahl. Wir haben uns an Bord sehr wohl gefühlt, den ganzen Tag über gab es kostenlose Heißgetränke und Kekse, und zum Mittagessen wurde uns sogar eine heiße Suppe serviert.

Hannaleena hab uns eine Präsentation und viele Informationen über Wale und darüber, warum wir mit dem Boot genau dorthin gefahren sind, wo wir waren. Auch sonst hat sie alle Fragen ausführlich beantwortet.

Das Wal-Erlebnis war fantastisch. Natürlich ist das Natur und außerhalb menschlichen Einflusses – aber wir wurden wirklich verwöhnt: Finnwale, Buckelwale und unzählige Orkas.

Der Kapitän Jørn hat alles getan, um uns so nah wie möglich an die Tiere heranzubringen – jedoch immer mit dem nötigen Respekt ihnen gegenüber. Ich hatte nie das Gefühl, dass wir ihre natürlichen Verhaltensweisen gestört haben.

Wegen der enormen Menge an Tieren hat der Kapitän uns etwas mehr Zeit bei den Walen gegeben, so dass wir wirklich ein grandioses Erlebnis hatten.

Had a fantastic two days of watching orcas, humpback and fin whales with NjordAdventures. Would highly reccomend booking a tour with them if you wish to go whale watching from Tromso in winter. The crew are very passionate about what they do and want you to have the best experience possible whilst also following good practices to avoid disturbing the whales.

Will definetly be coming back to Tromso again and booking more tours with them!

Nach zahlreichen erfolglosen Whale Watching Tours in allen Ländern hat mir Njord Adventures endlich meinen Traum erfüllt Orcas in freier Wildbahn hautnah zu erleben. Die Tour war mit Abstand die Beste, die ich bisher erlebt habe. Die Crew hat uns mit sehr viel Rücksicht & genügend Abstand zu den Tieren einen magischen Tag geschenkt. Wir haben super viele Orcas und Buckelwale gesehen. Das Boot ist sehr komfortabel. Für heiße Getränke, eine saubere Toilette an Board ist gesorgt. Was mir besonders gut gefallen hat, ist das wir uns sehr lange bei den Tieren aufgehalten haben. Der Kapitän hat uns immer wieder Richtung der Wale gebracht, ohne zu aufdringlich zu den Tieren zu sein. Ich kann diese Tour zu 1000% empfehlen und bin froh, dass ich mich für diesen kleineren Anbieter entschieden habe. Es waren nur ca 30 Menschen. Jeder hatte einen bequemen Platz und auch beim Fotografieren und Filmen hatten wir alle genug Platz, um etwas zu sehen. Tausend Dank an Njord Adventures!

Excellent crew and wonderful boat. We saw humpback whales and many orcas up close. Boat is fast and perfect size, not too big, not too small. We had a bonus on the way back seeing the Northern Lights. I totally recommend this crew and boat and would do it again

It's amazing!!!

Wirklich ganz ganz toll! Ein kleines Unternehmen , dem es wirklich wichtig ist, dass ihre Gäste glücklich sind und die sich sehr um ihre Gäste bemühen. Hannalena hat uns viel über die Wale erzählt und durch das schnelle Boot waren wir auch in 2.5h bei den Walen. Wir haben ganz viele Wale gesehen , es war atemberaubend schön und trotzdem wurden die Tiere in ihrer natürliche Umgebung respektiert ( nicht zu nah dran gefahren, verfolgt etc). Als die meisten Boote umgekehrt sind , sind wir noch weiter gefahren und haben noch ein paar Walspots aufgesucht da noch etwas Tageslicht da war. Das sticht gegenüber anderen Anbietern definitiv hervor. Auch die kleine Gruppengröße von höchstens 30 , macht die Tour sehr privat und entspannt. Es gab die ganze Tour über gratis Tee und Kaffee sowie Suppe . Wir haben uns wirklich sehr sehr wohl gefühlt und hatten den besten Tag seit langem. Auf der Rückfahrt konnten wir sogar noch Polarlichter sehen. Danke 🤗 bucht diese Tour , ihr werdet es nicht bereuen .

Fabulous experience! I was lucky enough to win this tour. Communication, friendliness and the tour itself was good. Although its a small boat tour, we were taken in a big boat to increase chances of seeing them, being end of season. We did see a few including orcas.

If it would be possible I would rate 6 stars 😜 it was an amazing trip. I am very thankful for that

We had a wonderful tour and booked immediately for the next day, that says everything. What makes this tour unique isvthe smaller soze of zhe group, it felt very personal and perfetly organized by the small team. Especially Hannaleena is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and the captain made us feel very safe. They hav no restricted schedule they go the extra mile to create great experiences for the guests. We saw lot of whales, orcas and humpbacks, it was amazing and a bonus the sunrise during the trip

Great trip! Very well planned and passionate. The trip is done very respectable to the whales and we got to see orcas and humpbackwhales. Due to small size of the boat the experience feels personal. Carry really warm clothes it gets really cold out there.

Mein Sohn und ich waren so begeistert, daß wir den Tag drauf auch nochmal mit dabei waren. Am ersten Tag haben wir viele Orcas gesehen, am zweiten Tag kamen dann noch Buckelwale und Finnwale dazu. Ein unvergessliches Erlebnis.

Excellent day out 🐋 We had an incredible day out with NjordAdventures. Orcas, humpback and fin whales in the space of a few hours! I had the pleasure of sharing this experience with friends and family, most of whom had never seen orcas before so it was very moving to see their reactions. A huge thanks to the guide Hannaleena and skipper Jørn for this amazing experience. If you wish to go whale watching from Tromso for the day, look no further then NjordAdventures! They are truly passionate about what they do and keep a respectful distance from the animals, allowing them to approach the boat on their own terms.

Perfect day with lots of whales, incredible scenery and an amazing crew My partner and me did the whale safari with Njord Adventures in mid-November 2025 and had an incredible day out in breathtakingly beautiful fjord scenery with lots of orcas, as well as several humpback whales and some fin whales (the latter didn't show much of themselves, but I trust our guide they were fin whales indeed) on a very comfy boat with an amazing crew.

While there is a bunch of whale watching tour operators in Tromsø to choose from, we were very happy we picked this one and highly recommend it for the following reasons (doesn't mean none of this applies to other operators as well, but for this one we can safely confirm):

• The code of conduct for responsible whale watching was perfectly followed. While we got very close especially to the orcas or rather they got close to us by themselves, great attention was paid not to harrass any whale with the boat.

• Thanks to the experience of the crew and their willingness also to spend more time for the tour and go further with the boat, we really saw a lot of whales, particularly orcas, and had plenty of time to watch and admire them.

• The crew, which consisted of our super friendly and knowledgeable guide Hannaleena and our experienced captain Jørn, was truly amazing. Hannaleena provided very interesting information about the whales (there was also a nice short presentation on the way to the whales) and took exceptional care of each passenger.

• Small boat with small group size. There are up to 36 passengers admitted on the boat. We were around 12 passengers that day, which created a very familiar and relaxed atmosphere, and the boat was super cosy and warm inside the cabin. (Only drawback: The boat might be a bit shakier than bigger boats in more turbulent waters, so my partner and me both felt a bit nauseous at some point on the way back, but neither we nor any of the other passengers required any of the sufficiently provided seasickness bags and Jørn manoeuvred the boat as calmly as possible.)

• We also very enjoyed the free hot drinks plus warm soup and cookies and I don't know whose playlist it was that we could listen to inside the cabin, but I very liked it.

So altogether, we had a fantastic experience with the whales and Northern Norwegian scenery. Thanks so much to Hannaleena and Jørn for the perfect day!

Thankful for this great experience. The communication was on point and the service just great. With patience we were lucky to see Orcas and humpback whales. We were given plenty of time to watch, enjoy and take pictures. I got to know a lot more about the whales we saw than imagined. Thank you Njord team for making our trip extra special.

It was a really nice experience to participate in whale safari. Those memories will last quiet a long time. The crew was amazing an very helpful. Their hospitality was on the highest level. I truly recommend to choose Njord Adventures.

We joined a whale tour with Njord Adventures on their small boat. Even though it was fully booked with around 40 people, it never felt crowded. Our guide Hannaleena was very friendly, knowledgeable, and explained everything clearly.

We were incredibly lucky and saw orcas, humpback whales, and even a fin whale. One orca stayed right next to the boat for about five minutes and swam around us, what an unforgettable experience.

These are wild animals, so sightings can never be guaranteed, but the crew always kept a respectful distance and clearly cared about the animals’ well-being.

Cant recommend this company enough. Easy to book, easy to find. Boat was so cool, gave you a real feel of adventure standing out on the deck cruising through the fjords, but also with the luxury of the warm indoor cabins with tea and coffee readily avaliable. I think our tour was fully booked but it didnt feel crowded at all. The team on board were fab giving loads of information about where we were heading, what animals maybe there for us too see, giving warning if it was going to be bumpy too. When we arrived to find the whales they were so respectful of giving the whales space to do their thing, but also getting us to the perfect spot to see too. After seeing the whales we headed back, warming up with soup in the cabin. Fantastic day for our whole family a trip ive been wanting to do for a long time. If you want to go whale watching 100% use Njord Adventures.

Memorable journey with Njord Adventures. Small group, very polite and kind stuff, helpful and dedicated to participants, they informed us at all times about whales around us. Very nice gesture at the end by giving us a small souvenir for the time we enjoyed with them. If I were to do this experience again , I would choose Njord as well.
