What is Njord adventures?
We are a small, privately owned company founded by three colleagues, who started off as workmates, became friends, and ultimately joined forces as business partners who share a love for the sea and a spark for adventure.
Today, we are proud to offer whale watching tours where our guests can experience the beauty and excitement of the ocean in a way that feels both professional and personal.
We are passionate about what we do, and our goal is to give you a safe, meaningful, educational and inspiring adventure at sea, while respecting the wildlife and natural world we all cherish.

What does Njord mean?
In Norse mythology, Njord is the god of the sea, wind, fishing and wealth. He is seen as the protector of seafarers and fishermen, ensuring safe journeys, good catches and prosperity. Njord has the power to calm the seas and summon favourable winds, embodying the sea’s ability to both give and provide.

Hannaleena Väisänen
Co-owner, Crew & Guide
Originally from Finland, Hannaleena studied animal biology in Scotland before living in Australia for a few years. In 2019, she traded the warm waters of Australia for the not so sunny and warm Northern Norway. With a keen interest in photography, nature, and research, Hannaleena enjoys sharing the experience of the sea with others. She believes it's important for people to step away from the everyday and connect with the natural world, whether it's for a bit of adventure or simply to gain a greater appreciation for the intelligent creatures we share this planet with.
Daniel Storeide
Co-owner & Captain
Daniel is the owner of Sylvkallen, and runs a family-owned restaurant and charter boat service in Trandal, Hjørundfjord. Growing up on the water, Daniel has been driving boats from a young age and earned his full captain’s license early. His experience and skills ensure things run smoothly both in the practical and mechanical sides of things. Daniel enjoys the challenge, unpredictability, and exciting surprises that come with whale watching tours in Tromsø. His expertise also include eating all the chocolate Hannaleena brings onboard Sylvkallen.
Jørn Nydahl
Co-owner & Captain
Jørn bought his first boat at the ripe age of eight, and ever since he has loved everything to do with the sea and boating. He works as a captain, and an overall doer of things in Trandal, Hjørundfjord. Captaining Sylvkallen in whale watching was a decision that quickly became a passion. Together with Daniel, he takes pride in keeping Sylvkallen well-maintained and running smoothly, ensuring she is always ready for new adventures at sea. Jørn loves to go the "extra mile" in showing our guests the best of what the whales and Northern Norway have to offer. Humpbacks are Jørn's soft spot, and he is not shy to express how important it is to go outside to see them.
