From the end of whale season to January 31.
Although the whales have followed the herring out of the Tromsø area, the Arctic coastline continues to offer unforgettable experiences. Join us on a scenic fjord cruise to Sommarøy, one of the most beautiful island communities in Northern Norway.
This tour is a perfect alternative for guests who were originally hoping to see whales, offering a relaxed yet adventurous way to explore Tromsø’s stunning natural surroundings.
What to expect
Departing from Tromsø, we cruise through sheltered fjords and along the open coastline toward Sommarøy. On the way, we for example sail through Rystraumen, a narrow strait with strong tidal currents.
Wildlife encounters are still very much part of the experience. Keep watch for white-tailed eagles, harbour seals, otters, a variety of sea birds (eg. common eider, little auk), porpoises, dolphins, moose and other coastal wildlife that inhabit this area year-round.
We will share history and insights into the local life as you travel through some of the region’s most scenic fjord areas. You can stay warm inside the heated cabin or step out on deck to enjoy the fresh air and uninterrupted views.
* If the weather does not permit going west to Sommarøy, we then will go northwards, passing the Lyngen Alps, to Nordfugløy instead. Routes are weather dependent and we plan the day according to weather conditions.
* We require a minimum of 12 pax for this trip
